What are your thoughts on the 2008 presidential race?
Susan:
I am turning into a political junkie. I love listening to the pundits I think it’s a very exciting time and a very important time in our country to choose the best leader. It’s a lot to consider and you have to be involved.
CC:
Who are your favorite musical artists of today?
Susan:
I have a very eclectic taste. I like Christina Aguilera. I think she has staying power. I think she is the real deal of today. So is Mariah Carey. I love her. I think her resurgence and rebirth are good for her. I also love Tina Turner. I hear she is going on tour and I am excited because I have never seen her perform live. I am also a big fan of Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall, Jane Monheit , Celine Dion, there’s a wide range.
CC:
How do you stay so fit?
Susan:
I love to eat, but I’ve learned which things to eat that are good for me. And, I have been doing pilates everyday for 14 years.
CC:
What do you do in your spare time?
Susan:
I love decorating. And I use to do needle point and I did a little knitting this year, which I found to be very theraputic.
CC:
Back to the great Erica Kane for a moment, I hear she is in jail again (laughs). Besides that, what commonalities do you two share?
Susan:
Well, I definitely haven’t been to jail (laughs). But I can relate to her being very headstrong at times; her love of men and clothes, and how she goes the distance for her children. What I like most about her is that she often says things that some people think, but don’t say. She can also throw a great temper tantrum.
CC:
What can Erica’s fans expect to see from her in the coming months?
Susan:
They will see her really push the envelope while she’s in prison. You don’t keep Erica Kane down for too long (laughs). They will also see more of the senator (played by Mario Van Peebles )and learn more about where they stand and the triangle it will cause with Jack.

How does it feel to be considered an icon?
Susan:
When I think of the entertainers I mentioned earlier, I don’t think of myself at all as an icon. I am very, very honored and proud.
CC:
What advice can you offer people hoping to follow in your footsteps, especially those living in rural areas?
Susan:
You know if you truly have it or not. If you can’t live without it (entertaining), it makes you want to become knowledgable. I suggest studying with the best people you can, whether it's moving to a major city where you can have access or studying with someone in your school.
