Personalizing your Home

There are many ways to personalize your home. One example that has long been an attractive way to make your house a home is by monogramming things. You could choose a fairly simple fabric, have it monogrammed with your family members’ initials and then apply it to the front or back of a chair. This really makes a grand statement when you have numerous chairs around a table. Also, as neutral tones return to popularity, it is always lovely to use an original work of art that exhibits neutral shades. The artwork will stand out and be personal to you and your home since it would be original and no one else would have the same exact piece. You may also want to buy china that has been monogrammed with your family’s name. This always looks elegant when it’s presented in a china cabinet or used as table setting. I have used this technique for many of my clients and they absolutely love the results.

Another distinct way of adding a personal touch to your home is to create your own lamps. Find a vase, jar or a bottle that is easily drilled with a diamond bit. Next, drill out the hole for the cord and attach a base and a top. Then, shop for a shade or have one made to crown it off. When you are finished, you will have a wonderful lighting sconce well as a piece of art that was selected and made by yourself. This is quite affordable and, as we all know, every little bit of extra change helps in today’s economy.

An additional and easy way to insert your personality into your home is to include elegant flower arrangements. Pussy willow and Bittersweet are both beautiful and functional when attempting to make a special arrangement. Also, these particular arrangements will last a very long time. However, if you want to try a different set of flowers but you’re not sure what to use, just go to a local florist and ask him or her to order some items from which you can make a wreath or an arrangement. Then, form these items into you very own design. Flowers will have a nice effect and will be a very inexpensive way to breathe some life to your home. Should you want to include a piece of living art within your home, you might want to try placing colorful fish into a beautiful bowl.

Finally, I have advice on how to turn your bathroom into a spa! First, add a fresh flower arrangement. Then, buy some towels and, you guessed it, have them monogrammed.  You could monogram your shower curtain with an initial or a triad of letters as well. Also, have a bag of rose petals handy so you can sprinkle them into you bath water for a relaxing treat. I always have numerous candles handy in my bathroom so that my room is lit with a glow that immediately adds ambiance. And last, but not least, have a fluffy rug waiting at the foot of your tub so you can step out onto a nice warm, cozy surface that will energize you for the day or have you ready to crawl into bed for a nice night’s sleep.
